La Marmotte", The Queen Mother of All Cyclosportives.

It provides an opportunity to ride the terrain of the pros, complete a grueling circuit, and climb such mythic mountain passes as the Col du Glandon (1,924 m or 6,200 ft.), the Col du Galibier (2,642 m or 7.925 ft.), and Alpe d'Huez (1,880 m or 5,640 ft.).

La Marmotte, which has been taking place for over 30 years, is a perfect way to experience the thrill of the Tour de France, take part in a mass-timed cycling event, and compete against the clock, yourself, or others.

Conveniently, the ride takes place during the same period as the Tour de France, thereby allowing cyclists the exciting opportunity of combining an exceptional ride with viewing the most renowned cycling event in the world. All in all, it is an event not to be missed and is a great alternative to participating in the Etape du Tour, which sells out fast.

We do not recommend entering the Marmotte unless you have a few "centuries" (not metric, miles!) under your belt! To help you achieve your goal, Cyclomundo will run a training programme in conjunction with Athletica, our coaching partner early May. In addition to rides and training tips, the Athletica experts will design a personal 2-month programme based on the physical tests you will be required to perform at this state-of-the-art sport center.

In 2009, Cyclomundo will also offer the following sportives:
- The Etape du Tour, a challenging cyclosportive in Provence: including the mythic Ventoux (July 20th)
-Time-Megeve-Mont-Blanc, an Alpine sportive taking place a few miles from Geneva (June 14th)
- Fausto Coppi Granfondo, Another Alpine sportive taking place in Cuneo (June 29th).
